The fact that you guys aren’t going to buy any third party games on the Wii U pretty much shows one of the major problems of the Wii U.

No one outside of major Nintendo fans will look at the Wii U as a “sole console”. It will be viewed AT BEST by most as a “secondary console” just for playing a few Nintendo games here and there.

The fact that there’s no huge reason for general consumers to make the Wii U their sole console (due to poor AAA 3rd party support), sets up the Wii U in a position to be nothing more than this decade’s Gamecube — a system that did poor that only really big Nintendo fans got as their main console during the time.

What we are seeing now is Nintendo paying for ignoring online services/features for so long as well as not having powerful hardware. The Wii U doesn’t have the same unique factor/newness that the Original Wii had and therefore the problems of the Wii U are MUCH more noticeable and damaging — especially now in 2013 (as well as the future).

In terms of Madden, I’m a pretty big sports gamer and have been a part of sports gaming communities for a while. There’s just nothing that will make sports gamers move on to the Wii U. I mean, the Xbox 360 version Madden NFL 2011 (released 3 years ago) probably had more people playing online than the Wii U version of Madden NFL 2013 during the same time.

Playstation and Xbox has a huge hold on sports gamers because they had online features for sports games for over a decade now. Therefore, they have built a large community of gamers. This added with the fact that the Wii U won’t be on par with the PS4 and Next Xbox in terms of power and graphics has made the decision easy for sports gamers and EA to not support the Wii U.
