theres a part of this round table where the ladies speak about how muting people is not an escape from the discrimination and the way that people are talking but i figure thats why Microsoft and other companies added the feature to report those people. Muting is NOT and escape but if people are not willing to take the time to report these problems and use the tools that are available then talking about this really isn't helping. this was a very interesting round table and the ladies made some amazing points

In my opinion, it's not an escape as long as you are reporting people that give you a problem. However, I know several individuals, male and female, who don't feel it's worth the effort to avoid a player or file a complaint. That I have an issue with.

Thanks everyone. I was so excited the ladies chose to join us for this!

I'm not a female, yet I mute the hell out of people. Thats a non-gender issue. If you are annoying, you are muted. Male or female you will get harassed. If you are a female they will hit on you or say you must be fat. If you are male they will comment on your mother or you sexual orientation. Usually I have my mic on mute to see if there is actual intelligence in that game, if not the mic is unplugged. In regards to the team games(Harlequin's example), I make sure I only relay information about the game if I don't feel like talking to them.

Great round table though. Good disparity in opinions as well.

Great show ladies! I can relate to the muting issue. I get so many race related questions because of my gamertag. It's a comic book character and he's not even black! He's just one of my favorite heroes/antiheroes/sometimes villain.

Will there be more roundtables like this? If so, I have a question. What are your opinions on the Frag Dolls? On one hand I think an all woman clan is a great idea. My only problem with the Frag Dolls is that it seems like they're hand picked by Ubisoft based on looks and skill rather than just skill alone.

Me too. The feature is there for a reason, I wish more people would use it so we could keep all these ****s offline.

Read that as "I'm not a female yet. I mute the hell out of people" I had to do a double take.

I believe that there will be.
My opinion on fragdolls is that they are despicable and damaging the image of female gamers everywhere on purpose. They claim to represent us, media take their word for it, and we are stuck watching a bunch of females acting like a sorority ((the loud, drunk, and obnoxious kind) .

As for female groups.
Segregation is segregation no matter if you divide people up by rase, gender, age or what type of pet you have. Gaming is supposed to be about unity and dividing up in groups in which what sex you are is dameging not matter what.

Quote:
Sex segregation is the separation of people according to their gender.

The pejorative term gender apartheid (or sexual apartheid) has been applied to segregation of people by gender, implying that it is sexual discrimination. In some circumstances, gender segregation is a controversial policy, with critics contending that in most or all circumstances it is a violation of human rights, and supporters arguing that it is necessary to maintain decency, sacredness, modesty, female safety[1] or the family unit.

I wouldnt want to be part of a group and doesn;t allow my fiance or my future son to join just because they happen to have a winky

Gamingangel tweeted a response she wrote on the Ubisoft forums. She had a well thought out and well written argument about games for girls. http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/t...2/m/4481082008

She even ended it with "this is my opinion and not gamingangels.com's opinion". My problem is that it's like the FDs on that thread can't even think for themselves or disagree with each other. They're all gushing over the Imagine games like they're the second coming.

Mandy,

When you brought up the point about consumers being targeted, that hit home with me. I wondering the same thing about the consumers not being targeted feeling left out. What I discovered is what you talk about and it is that when consumers understand they are being targeted, they become more critical of the advertisement.

I just wanted to say that I appreciated this discussion and I commend you all for perservering through all the behavior in gaming and in our society.
