This one is for you Paustin.
I get so annoyed about commercial holidays and the "big deals" that come with them. I enjoy Christmas even though I personally am not a religious person. It's a chance to get together with the whole family, goof off, give gifts because we can and generally cause mayhem. However, there is so much stress leading up to it when it comes to the gift giving.
Whether you are giving gifts to others or to yourself, you're constantly looking online and checking the newspaper ads to see who has the best deals. You rush around trying to make the deadline with wrapped gifts.
At the end, on Christmas Eve, you pat yourself on the back for a job well done in picking good presents and getting them at the best possible deal. Bask in the glow of family and friends while being secure in your knowledge that you did the best you could in getting those "holiday only" sales.
But *gasp*!
Merely a few days after your holiday has passed and you wander out to the store for fun, you find the same or BETTER deals than what you fought for (elbows flying and all as you run others over with your cart) simply days (or for our non-procrastinators, weeks) before.
I believe I will simply start saving my money for after the actual holiday so I can spend it on better deals and more stuff. You'll just get my presents a few days late ;)
