It's been a few years with the update of the Xbox 360 dashboard in which Microsoft launched a great video channel called Inside Xbox. This has been a hit and miss since the day it began. Lately, I've been checking it out to see what cool videos they have and really nothing has been that great. In the past I enjoyed watching the live report from Iraq with Major Nelson as well as launch coverages of many games such as GTA IV, Halo 3 or even Modern Warfare 2. But most of the time Inside Xbox reminds me of some infomercial. Microsoft has the technology and the staff to make this one of the coolest gaming channels for gamers. They have the ability to create some great shows for the gamers and also for the hardcore. But having it as a infomercial can get annoying.
I have watched different Inside Xbox channels from around the world via youtube from the following countries: Mexico, Canada, Switzerland, UK & Japan (there might be more around the world). They all have a different style compared to the US.
<center><b>Inside Xbox Japan</b></center>
<center><object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7uz4wAcbaZM&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7uz4wAcbaZM&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object></center>
Japan: They have a weekly show where the 2 hosts invite guests from the gaming industry in Japan to promote an upcoming game. They also talk about the top 10 games most played on Xbox Live in Japan, previews and much more.
<center><object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5c6q7W7nE7I&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5c6q7W7nE7I&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object></center>
This is when Inside Japan was also doing infomercials = FAIL.
<center><b>Inside Xbox Mexico</b></center>
<center><object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Fx_Kv9-wCkw&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Fx_Kv9-wCkw&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object></center>
Mexico: The Xbox staff in Mexico are great at giving spanish gamers coverage on gaming events, interviewing gamers from the community in Mexico (community spotlight), a weekly show about the latest games called "Pick Up & Play" and also interviews.
<center><object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/lb-aS4cT3S0&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/lb-aS4cT3S0&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object></center>
This is community spotlight from Mexico.
<center><b>Inside Xbox UK</b></center>
<center><object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/IprmxDUBqQQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/IprmxDUBqQQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object></center>
UK: Tons of non-stop interviews, behind the scenes coverage on events and also Q&A with the host sent by gamers in the UK.
<center><b>Inside Xbox Switzerland</b></center>
<center><object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7vOqPHYggeg&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7vOqPHYggeg&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object></center>
Switzerland: They just launched their channel a few months ago. They don't update as much but when they do you will get to see a full episode on what's coming for the console and interviews with the gaming industry and also behind the scenes live from Xbox in Switzerland.
<center><b>Insisde Xbox Canada</b></center>
<center><object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CWPi10CeFgc&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CWPi10CeFgc&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object></center>
Canada: Seems simliar to the US version but they do add some exclusive content just for Canadian gamers with a weekly comic strip and interviews.
The big difference with all these worldwide channels and the one here is it seems something is missing for the Inside Xbox US. I really don't know what it is but having Major Nelson as a weekly host for a 1 min video isn't enough, especially since Microsoft removed Trixie (Community Update) & Pick Up & Play with Nelson & Natalie. Things have just been boring with Inside Xbox. For you the readers what would you like to see in the future with Inside Xbox here in the states? Do you even watch it? Let us know!
